CAMPAIGN UPDATES
Dignity, Equity, Justice!
Families in our district are working themselves to the bone, yet they’re still trapped in a cycle of living paycheck to paycheck. No one should have to choose between paying their utility bill or buying groceries. I will fight to bring economic relief to working families in our district by fighting to lower taxes on hardworking parents.
The ultra-wealthy need to pay their fair share. We, the working families, have been shouldering the burden for way to long. Corporations that make millions in profit each year don't deserve tax breaks. Families need affordable daycare, before & after school care, and every new mother deserves paid time off. I will see that the money the state gains from having everyone pay their fair share will further benefit working New Yorkers .
I will fight to help pass the NY Health Act. If the federal government won't take the lead and enact Medicare for all then New York State must pass the NY Health Act. I will support and straighten the protections for unions and the ability of workers to unionize. I believe unions are a vital component to creating a strong, healthy and prospering district.
Our communities deserves economic dignity for everyone working to build a better life.
In our district, too many parents are forced to rely on government subsidies just to keep their homes warm, their children fed, and their families healthy. These programs are vital safety nets intended to support people through their hardest moments and help them transition back to self-sufficiency.
The benefits cliff (that point at which you make slightly more money and therefore lose all of your benefits - resulting in a net loss of resources) has long been a barrier to this transition.
New York State has made significant improvements to help families when they reach this cliff, but the holes in the federal system continue to create barriers to families who are trying to climb out of poverty. The State cannot fix everything done in Washington, but, when I am in office, I will fight to fill the gaps left by the current federal policies.
Everyone deserves opportunities to improve their lives, promotions and better paying jobs should not make harder. This is why I will work to reform these programs and help families turn their hard work into true financial independence and a chance at the American Dream.
As a single Latina mother raising two daughters, I know that healthcare isn’t just a policy issue—it’s personal. I am determined to protect and expand reproductive freedom for every woman in our district. Because we all —cisgender and transgender alike—deserve high-quality, affordable, and non-discriminatory care. My mission is to bridge the gap in rural healthcare, ensuring that life-saving preventive screenings, pre and postnatal care, contraceptives, and safe abortion access are never out of reach.
In our district, every child deserves to thrive. I believe that nutrition, education, and healthcare are fundamental human rights—not privileges reserved for a few. No child should ever walk into a classroom hungry or be denied a quality education because of their background or zip code. I am fighting for a future with fully funded public schools, universal full-day Pre-K, and continued free school meals for all. By investing in our schools today, we ensure our students have the resources they need to become the leaders of tomorrow
Dignity and fairness aren’t optional—they are fundamental. I understand the specific hurdles our LGBTQ+ neighbors face in rural areas, and I am ready to lead on these issues. My platform prioritizes the creation of safe, gender-neutral facilities that provide dignified care in safe spaces and implementing harsher punishments for gender-based violence. I will fight to ensure that healthcare—including gender-affirming and mental health services—is fully covered and accessible. I am going to make sure that, in our district, your rights are protected and your identity is respected.
Our State has always been a safe haven, and that must remain true for every woman—regardless of her background, birthplace, or economic status. As concerns grow over the treatment of families in detention centers, we must act to safeguard their fundamental human and civil rights. I will fight to ensure that any woman or child held in immigration custody within our borders has guaranteed access to essential legal, medical, and educational services.
Furthermore, I will push to enforce rigorous state-level licensing and oversight for all immigration detention facilities, especially private ones. By requiring these centers to meet state-mandated training, reporting, and safety protocols regarding sexual assault, while also providing for access to local government inspections, so we can finally ensure accountability and end the cycle of abuse and inhumanity.
Being rural should never mean being disconnected. Today, the lack of fiber-optic internet is one of the direct barriers to our district’s growth. We face a depopulation challenge, and to keep our younger generations here—and attract new families and businesses—we must provide the digital infrastructure they require. High-speed internet is no longer a luxury; it is a necessity for modern farming, running a small business, remote work, and for our children’s education. I am committed to bringing our district into the 21st century, ensuring that no one is left behind as the rest of the world moves forward.
In our rural regions, agriculture isn't just an industry; it’s our way of life and the backbone of New York State's economy, providing the foundation for our food security and regional stability. But right now, our farmers are facing unprecedented pressures—from workforce shortages due to ICE raids, to aging infrastructure and misguided regulations.
It’s time for a loud, effective voice in Albany— someone who truly understands these stakes and who will deliver real solutions, not just rhetoric.
I am committed to fighting for 'intelligent' green energy policies and bringing development that never sacrifices our best farmland, for legislation that secures their workforces, and climate control regulation that provides clean water. I will advocate for the funding needed for proper drainage and soil health, ensuring our district continues to produce the clean, high-quality food New Yorkers rely on.
Let’s give our farming community the voice it has earned.
